Grand Theft Auto IV Delayed

Published at 6:00 AM PST

In a press release by Take-Two Interactive today they announced that the most anticipated, Grand Theft Auto IV, will be delayed until the second quarter fiscal 2008, which means sometime between March and June next year. No official date has been given as of yet.

Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete the title. The title is now planned for release in the Company's second quarter of fiscal 2008.

The delay is based entirely on technical challenges, and is not due to a specific console. Revenue should not be affected by the move in their opinion. The speculation to in the press about the delay being due to bad frame-rate is untrue, frame-rate in irrelevant to the delay. They believe they owe it to fans to insure the game is of the highest standard on both platforms, and insure us that it will not disappoint.

As for those with Xbox 360's awaiting the episodic content, they indicated that they will still go to plan and stated that 'no money will be given back to Microsoft' in relation to the content.

On another note, they also announced that Manhunt 2 will hit shelves this year if the appeal is successful and a Mature rating is given. Lets hope all goes well.
