Want to know why Sony's machine isn't receiving GTA IV downloadable content? Because Microsoft paid a whopping $50 Million for the exclusive episodes, thats why.

Stock analysis website SeekingAlpha have referenced last weeks press release from Take-Two regarding it's financial results and a conference call in relation to that, where it is revealed that the $50 million “Deferred revenue” figure is actually coming from Microsoft, who will pay Take-Two $25 million for one downloadable episode in March '08 and the other $25 million later on in fiscal '08 for the second episode. We can assume from this that these are likely to be the dates when we will actually receive the content, although it's not certain.

Bad news for Sony fans...

The second trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV will be released June 28, only about 17 days from now. The splash page was updated today with a count down, be sure to check it out at http://www.rockstargames.com/IV/. The tag line is interesting. "LOOKING FOR THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE" in the same red text used for the countdown for the first trailer. What could this mean; possible introduction of girlfriend maybe? Introduction of Roman, of maybe the long awaited multiplayer? We'll have to wait and see.

Some analysts think that with the release of Halo 3 being an obvious mega blockbuster, Take-Two may end up pushing GTA IV a couple of weeks behind for financial reasons. It makes sense though, the biggest game of the year is released on Sept. 25th, with GTA IV just 3 weeks behind, money-wise, Take-Two would be better off moving GTA's release date a couple of weeks back to get further away from Halo's sales.

“We believe that it is possible that the company will choose to 'throw in the towel' on FY:07 by shifting the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV by a few weeks, increasing the losses incurred this year and improving the company's prospects for FY:08,” Pachter explained. “We believe that a two-week delay would provide a reasonable gap between the launch of Halo 3 and the launch of GTA IV, and would actually help sales of both games”

But, what do the fans want? Surely not a delay!
