Eight gaming sites have posted their previews of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars today, the three we found most intreaging where:

CVG

New to Chinatown Wars is a burnout mechanic which, by holding accelerate and handbrake, you can spin your wheels and then burn off leaving a trail of fire. The fire, hilariously, kills nearby people, which is as useful as it is funny in police chases

We hijacked a sports car that required us to loosen four screws and remove a panel, exposing two wires that needed to be ripped out and connected to start the engine - all on the touch screen.

I could have assembled that sniper rifle all day - it felt so satisfying, slotting all the pieces into place. Jacking into cars - and there were different mini-games depending on which car you were jacking - also felt really good, be it jamming a screwdriver into the ignition or hotwiring a car.

Rockstar Leeds has gone to town with the DS' feature set, using it all in ways that arguably immerse you more in the experience than any other edition in the series.

There are some new screenshots in the previews, but we don't feel it would make much sense posting them here without a proper description of each, so check out each review for a full wrap up including imagery and details! Check back soon for more news as the game nears release.

The long anticipated DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV is getting closer to release, so screenshots are slowly going live on the internet. Today, Xbox.com has released 3 new screens for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost And Damned.

You can clearly see in the second screenshot that the new playable character "Johnny Klebitz" is hitting another biker with a baseball bat. Could this be a new gameplay feature or just a cutscene? We'll have to find out on the release of The Lost And Damned on the 17 of February!

Retailer GameStop today has listed Grand Theft Auto: the Lost and Damned. The retail version is just basically a box with a pre-paid Xbox Live Marketplace Card inside, which you can activate on marketplace. The box will also include a nice two sided poster. We're thinking it's artwork of Johnny.

  • Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned packaging will include a 2 sided poster and an Xbox LIVE Marketplace token card. The token card will contain a unique code to purchase The Lost and Damned over the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
  • Runs with a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360
  • No disc included in packaging – Downloadable Content Only
  • Must have an Xbox LIVE account
  • Consumer Return Policy: Enclosed in each package will be an Xbox LIVE Marketplace token. This token will have a tear off strip that reveals a unique code to download the content over the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Once this code has been exposed, the downloadable content has been potentially accessed and can no longer be accepted for return.

GameStop has also listed a price of $20, not bad for a pack that has a new story, new multiplayer modes, new characters, new weapons and vehicles, and new music....or for even more you can BUY cheats for NFS: Undercover so you can unlock stuff already on the disk.

Rockstar has officially announced the episodic content pack that was detailed last night by the USA Today. In the press release, it mentions some new content coming with the pack.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North and set in Liberty City, The Lost and Damned features a new main character and plot that intersects with the storyline of Grand Theft Auto IV; new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City with new multiplayer modes, weapons and vehicles; and a diverse soundtrack with additional music - all with the incredible production values that are the trademarks of Grand Theft Auto.

New multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles, new music, and a new story? No wonder why Microsoft bought exclusive rights to the pack! The press release also mentions that the pack will be released February 17, 2009.

The USA Today has some exclusive details on the first episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV

  • The episode will be nammed "The Lost and Damned"
  • You will play as Johnny Klebitz, a member of the biker gang The Lost
  • Niko will have a small part
  • No final price yet

A couple of quotes by Dan Houser

"Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background," says Dan Houser, vice president of creative development for Rockstar Games. "I can't go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City."

"The story is not directly impacted by decisions you took in the main game, tons of details and mysteries from the main story get explained, so it will add a lot of color to the main story."

"We feel like we've only scratched the surface in terms of the depth and detail in Liberty City."
