Max Payne 3 pushed back to May 2012

Published at 5:33 AM PST

Take-Two has announced this morning that Max Payne 3 has been delayed, again. Previously slated for release this March, Max is now gearing up for a May 15th 2012 release in North America and a May 18th release in Europe. No specific reasons why were given.

We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our Company. Max Payne 3 promises to be one of our most exciting releases to date, and we are confident that consumers will once again be amazed by Rockstar s ability to take interactive entertainment to another level. - Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two

Max is no stranger to delays. Max Payne 3 was originally slated for a Winter 2009 release, which was then pushed back into 2010. After the game was removed from Take-Two's 2010 pipeline in June 2010, news regarding the game went cold. Late August of last year, Max popped back up giving us the first look at the game in almost 2 years and a release date of March 2012.
