Max Payne 3 coming December 1st?

Published at 10:43 AM PST

Recently Amazon, along with GameStop and a number of other stores, have altered the release date listed for Max Payne 3 to December 1st of this year. While it's not unusual for a store to give it's own approximated release date for a game that has not had a release date announced, according to an email from Amazon this date was set by the publisher and not by them. If this true and with less than six months to go according to the release date, we should be seeing a storm of Max Payne 3 media and information soon.

Hello,

We have received new release date information related to your pre-ordered video game in the order you placed on November 11 2010 (Order# xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx). The release date for the video game listed below has been changed by the publisher, and we want to provide you with a new delivery estimate based on the new release date:

 Windows XP "Max Payne 3"
   Release date: December 01 2011
Estimated arrival date: December 05 2011

Amazon is also running discounts on all three versions of Max Payne 3. Both the PC and PlayStation 3 versions currently have $3 knocked off (how fitting!) and the 360 version has 17 cents knocked off the original price. The original price for both the PlayStation 3 and 360 versions is $59.99 while the PC version is priced in-line with every other PC game (that isn't Activision and EA) at only $49.99.

EDIT: We should also note that we've found entries for Max Payne 3 in newer Nvidia drivers, which adds some validity to this.
