We are currently in the process of moving servers, due to this some of RockstarWatch may not appear as it should. We have managed to place a partly working version of the website on the new server, that is what you are currently viewing. Before the server move we were working on a huge overhaul and update to the website, for the time being this has been placed on hiatus until we complete our server move and configuration. However, rest assured the new and highly improved version of RockstarWatch is just around the corner!
Kind regards,
Jared & Aj
A Live-Action Comic is something rather new to us, we haven't seen it done before. We have been told though, that it's a technique that's been being used a lot recently by 20th Century Fox. You may or may not have already seen this, the Max Payne Live-Action Comic, its a Comic style story-telling of events that have taken place, a background history on Max Payne and his life basically. It's a great choice of style, as the Max Payne games have always taken on this "comicbook" feel to introductions and cut-scenes. Check it out:
Another thing we found while checking around the web lately was this, an interview done by IGN with Max Payne actor Mark Wahlberg, it's only short, about 1 minute long, but it does hold some information:
It doesn't seem like Mark likes Video Games very much, in fact up to this point he has admitted to not ever playing a Max Payne game before. A little scary since he is expected to take on that roll and make it seem like the Max we all know from the game. But lets give him a chance, so far so good on the Max Payne front, he may surprise us.
On September 11th homes across America we're shown the first TV Spot for the upcoming Max Payne Movie. It is mostly a shortened version of the trailer, however it does have a few minor sections that we didn't see in the trailer. Check it out below and if you live in the States, keep an eye out for it on your televisions:

You may remember an interview not too long ago with Mila Kunis (Mona Sax) who said that the movie was aiming for a PG-13 rating. However, the MPAA thinks otherwise. The MPAA has just announced that it has given Max Payne an R rating, putting it up there with over-the-top violent movies such as Saw IV. How does John Moore, the director, feel about this? Well he's not too happy with the MPAA at the moment.
Das Gamer: How challenging has it been to get a PG-13 rating for Max Payne?
John Moore: It continues to be a challenge. We’re right in the middle of it now. We’re suffering from what I call Batman blowback. The Motion Picture Association of America gave The Dark Knight a PG-13 rating and basically sucked Warner Bros. cock. I have a serious amount of issues with the MPAA. Did you know it was made up of volunteers? As if that somehow excludes them from some type of wrongdoing. You can’t serve on it if you’re a homosexual or if you didn’t grow up in a shared parenthood home. Go to their website and read their charter about what gives a fair and balanced view for typical parents. We’re still strangled by an association that’s straight out of the House Un-American Activities Committee.
Ouch! And the MPAA's reason behind the R rating?
What did the MPAA tell you was the problem with Max Payne?
John Moore: They said to me, the movie feels R. And I said, “What the fuck is that, a group therapy session?” You can’t do that. They’re meant to judge content, not intent. They said the movie felt dark.
Hmmm...Reminds me of a certain ratings board in the U.K. (see: BBFC) Well at least they are still in talks with the MPAA. Hopefully, the MPAA will see the light.

Nathali, a LiveJournal.com Blogger, has made 218 screencaps from the trailer; each of which are 1920x816 pixels in size, thats about the size of an average widescreen monitor! Making them perfect for desktop backgrounds.
Below are 4 of the 218 screencaps to give you an idea of just how big they are, and if you wish to download the pack it can be found below also:
Download: MaxPayneMoviecaps.zip (23.32 mb)
Update: It has come to my attention that some people believe these screencaps were made by us at RockstarWatch, I would like to urge that they were not made by us at all, they were made by Nathali at LiveJournal.com. Sorry if this was not clear previously, however I do not want people to receive false information and thank us when they should really be thanking Nathali.
It may not bring in as much as the latest Batman movie, but it sure is impressing followers of the series. Over the past month some posters have been released. We have gathered them below.
Posters (863x1280):
*Note that the second poster strikes a resemblance to Max Payne 2's game artwork

The upcoming file adaptions of Max Payne is going strong, and nearest the end of last week they released their first official trailer for the film.
There is also a small introduction you can see on the Official Website or on YouTube. The trailer doesn't reveal much as of yet, only that there are some things that are questionable. For one, the fact that Max Payne can be seen twice wearing "wings of an angel", or something similar. We are unsure what this yet represents, it could be one of Max's famous hallucinations or dreams which occur in the game or something new that we have not seen in the game.
The Official Website has also been updated, apart from the trailer and the intro video there is also a synopsis for the film:
Based on the legendary, hard-hitting interactive video game, MAX PAYNE tells the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. Hell-bent on revenge, his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max (Mark Wahlberg) is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal.
We also did some looking around and found some photos and images used on the Official Website which you can use and download if you wish. Some you may have seen when surfing the website, some you may not have yet seen:
Singer and song-writer, Nelly Furtado, is set to land her first ever movie role in the upcoming Max Payne film. She will be playing Christa Balder, wife of Alex Balder who is Max Payne's partner and best friend.

| Actor/Actress | Character | Overview |
|---|---|---|

Max Payne: Payne and Redemption, a fan made and independent film, was recently the recipient of a legal notice on April 22, 2008. The movie was made out of a team's free time for the last three years and even received blessings from Sam Lake, the actual creator and writer of the Max Payne games. Now we here at RockstarWatch understand that Fox is trying to protect it's investment for the rights of a Max Payne movie (they purchased the rights to a movie from Take-Two), however, the independent movie was started even before Fox decided to get on with doing an actual movie. Then going as far as to tell the group that they can't publish the fan made movie at all nor can they host trailers, that just well...a bit appalling to us. Especially considering the movie was going to free of charge for download. On behalf of the entire RockstarWatch team, I would like to say I sincerely hope Fox will come to it's senses allow this free fan made movie be published.

Some new photos from the Max Payne movie set have been released. The first show Mark Wahlberg who will be playing Max Payne, the main character who is struggling with the murder of his family; the second has Chris O'Donnell in character, although his character is not as yet known; then there is the last image which appears to be a scene from the movie, the red splotches appear to be blood, however we aren't sure exactly.
