UPDATE: VG247 has been in contact with Rockstar regarding the OFLC modification for Vice City, and it appears that Rockstar had the game re-rated as part of "ongoing work with history products". What this means for Vice City, and the three other games listed above, is still unclear. We'll let you know of any updates.

-----

According to the ESRB's website, Grand Theft Auto III, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas and Max Payne will all soon be making the jump over to the Mac OSX platform. While Rockstar has not announced nor shown any signs of taking this step, it all makes sense considering the recent push to support both Windows PC and Macintosh, most specifically by Valve who have made both their Steam service and their games available on the Mac OSX. Since this hasn't officially been announced by Rockstar, we don't know more than these subtle hints, so whether the ports will be native or emulated is anyone's guess at the moment (though it does seem unlikely Rockstar would port an engine it no longer uses). It is possible that, if the games are available through Steam, they may be listed under Steam Play, meaning those who currently own the PC versions will be able to play on both the PC and Mac without requiring any re-purchase.

Additionally, Australia's OFLC ratings board has mysteriously modified their rating of GTA Vice City, updating it to newer guide terms ("Strong Violence", compared to "Medium level animated violence"). At the moment it is unknown why this change has been made, and whether it was on request from Rockstar, or something the OFLC has taken upon themselves.

We would like to send our condolences to family and friends of Hip-Hop legend Guru, otherwise known by his off-stage name Keith Elam, who sadly lost his battle with cancer yesterday. Guru was part of the Hip-Hop duo 'Gang Starr', who were very successfully throughout the 90s - one of their songs, B.Y.S., can also be heard on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' radio station Playback FM. His most notable contribution to the Grand Theft Auto series was his voice-acting of the character 8-Ball in Grand Theft Auto III, which is personally one of my most favorite characters in the GTA universe.

"I know a place in the edge of Red Light District where we can lay low, but my hands are messed up, so you better drive, brother." - 8-Ball

You will be dearly missed by all of your fans Guru, thank you for all of your contributions to the Hip-Hop genre and the Grand Theft Auto series. Rest In Peace.

Regards to Rockstar for the opening photograph and artwork, much appreciated guys.

As I was looking around on GameStop's website today, I came across two Grand Theft Auto bundle packs that have yet to be announced by Rockstar. One pack for the PC is exactly like the trilogy packs released for the PS2 and Xbox consoles. It includes GTAIII, Vice City and San Andreas. We're not sure at the moment if the games have been patched to correctly work on newer OSes. (Personally, I don't have a problem with the games on Vista but some have reported various problems) The other pack for the PlayStation 2 includes both Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. Both bundles will retail for $30. The PC pack releases on 30th of this month and the Stories pack releases on the 23rd.

A Nintendo news website hosted by WordPress today posted an interesting article on the Top Selling Games of All Time. Although a little bias as 17 of the games were made by Nintendo it does list a few that were not, nothing to surprising in the list, however it does beg the question, can upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV smash the record? GTA Vice City sold the most, beating GTA III by 2 million sales and GTA San Andreas by 1 million sales. Seems there are a lot of 80's fans out there, but can the new re-engineered Grand Theft Auto compete? We'll have to wait and see.

#7: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - PlayStation 2 - 13 million copies sold
#10: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - PlayStation 2 - 12 Million Copies Sold
#13: Grand Theft Auto III - PlayStation 2 - 11 Million Copies Sold
