RockstarWatch was born from an idea of having one website which was dedicated to the entire collection of Rockstar Games' games. From this the idea expanded to also cover films Rockstar Games was related with and also to cover the large amount of Rockstar studios which develop the games. Originally it was planned to be a comprehensive website with content covering all games and community opportunities for hardcore fans.
For fans, by fans - that is RockstarWatch. Nobody who work on RockstarWatch makes any money or benefits from working on the site, we are all fans, just like you. We endeavor to be the most comprehensive website for each and every game we cover. We were the first website to covering Rockstar Games entirely as a fansite and are the most comprehensive of the now large amount of Rockstar Games fansite's.
RockstarWatch is all about keeping the fan base of world class game developers, Rockstar Games, up-to-date with comprehensive content, news, reviews and media. Our slogan 'The Rockstar Games digital entertainment rollercoaster...' defines what we are all about. We want the fan base to join the Rockstar Games rollercoaster for what we promise will be a very rewarding experience.
RockstarWatch was born in late 2006, content and staff were gathered in February of 2007 and the website opened in April of the same year for registrations on our network. The website opened completely to the public in December of 2007 after a rough year of development involving much coding, battles and triumphs.
The name "RockstarWatch" came from a magnitude of things. Rockstar was obviously to resemble the fact that the site was related to Rockstar Games, while Watch was chosen because at the time we had been reading sites such as MicrosoftWatch, GoogleWatch and others which also covered tracking of well-known companies similar to that of what we wanted for RockstarWatch. We felt the name sounded catchy and matched with our original plan, to cover everything to do with Rockstar Games and keep readers up-to-date with the happenings of the games publisher.
